Claude Code Auckland #1
New Zealand's first Claude Code community meetup — practical demos, real workflows, and conversations about AI that works.
Event Summary
New Zealand’s inaugural Claude Code meetup brought together 150 developers, builders, and AI enthusiasts at 2degrees Head Office in Auckland. Sponsored by Anthropic, this was the first of our community events focused on practical AI workflows.
What We Covered
Simon Conroy opened the evening with an introduction to The Colab and set the scene for what’s possible with AI-assisted development.
Adam Holt then took the stage for Claude Code 101 — a hands-on introduction to getting started with Claude Code — followed by live demos showcasing Claude Code in action on real projects.
Guest Speakers
We were joined by two fantastic speakers from the NZ tech community:
- Mike Bayly from The AI Corner shared insights on the AI landscape in New Zealand
- Ian Johnson from Mio.nz demonstrated real-world applications and use cases
